Mount Kelly Christmas Fair

Posted: 3rd December 2015

The Mount Kelly Christmas Fair, organised by the Parents' Association, was held at the Prep on Saturday 28th November, and the School was delighted
to welcome hundreds of visitors of all generations from the local Tavistock community through its doors. A highlight of the event, for children and parents alike, was Santa's Grotto which was based on the theme of Narnia's Winter Wonderland and which included a magic walk-through wardrobe, a snowy woodland forest with real Christmas trees, and Father Christmas in his life-sized sleigh.

Another highlight was the Raffle, with prizes generously donated by over 30 local shops and tradespeople, which was held in aid of the Meadows Makeover project and raised over £1,000 for this worthy local cause. We are delighted to support the Meadowlands Makeover, which is a wonderful resource for local families and the plan is that the funds will enable them to purchase an item of playground equipment from their wish list for the local park..

Visitors made the most of the Christmas shopping opportunities from the dozens of gift stalls run by locally-based tradespeople, and enjoyed tea and cake in the ‘Snowflake Café’ whilst listening to live Christmas carols and music performed by Mount Kelly pupils, parents and staff. Face-painting, Big Bang Tombola and 'Can you find the Reindeer?' were just a few of the many other activities which kept children entertained on the day.

Heather Searle, joint Chair of the Parents' Association commented: "This was our first Christmas Fair as Mount Kelly, and we are delighted that it has been such a success. We would like to say a big thank to everyone for all their support – whether as a prize-giver to the Raffle, or as a visitor on the day, this was very much a community event!"
