Newton

Newton, a boarding house for boys in the Years 9 - 11, provides every boy with a safe and secure environment where they can develop the confidence to engage in new experiences and activities and to achieve their full potential.

The House ethos encourages family values and is closely based on the Mount Kelly Credo.  The fierce House loyalty amongst the boys does not exclude the enjoyment of joint activities with other Houses, such as dinner nights, BBQ's and football matches.  We welcome boys in to the House as they transition from the Prep and from other Schools, both in to Year 9 and Year 10. This is an exciting time for the boys when they are encouraged to be much more resourceful and self motivated in order to do their best academically and make the most of all the Co-curicular opportunities available at Mount Kelly. Our excellent team of Tutors are always on hand to offer individual support and advice to ensure every child the best chance of success.

Newton House is a beautiful Georgian building surrounded by plenty of open space in which the boys can run, play ball games and generally let off steam. In addition to the dormitories there are light and spacious communal areas for working and relaxing and a kitchen area for boys to prepare snacks and drinks during the day and in the evening.

My Wife, Sue, assists me in running the House we look after all the boys and our two sons; Nathan and Charlie. Our Hungarian Vizsla dog, Gunnar also lives in the Housemaster's House and is much loved by all.

Due to the popularity of Newton House, successful applicants outnumber the spaces we have available and therefore a number of our Year 11 pupils will always be housed in Courtenay.
