Rosslyn Park 7s

The U14’s set off from Mount Kelly on Wednesday 21 March, confident after their West Devon victory. At Twickenham Stadium they enjoyed the museum, sitting in the England Team’s changing room and walking out through the tunnel onto the pitch as well as the views from the VIP seats.

The Rosslyn Park 7’s tournament the next day saw the boys off to a slow start in their first match against Warwick. The second game resulted in a well-deserved win with tries from Ben Pitts, Zach Wimbush and Charles Warren securing the victory. Their next encounter was against a strong Manchester Grammar School side resulting in a nail-biting win for Mount Kelly of 22-21.

The  last game was the group decider between Mount Kelly and Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School. Mount Kelly took an early lead through Ben Pitts and continued to put the pressure on but a loss of focus and some strong running allowed QUEGS to take the lead. QUEGS extended this lead but the boys rallied, wanting to progress; however, the whistle just came a little early!

All the boys played extremely well and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable tournament. Well done to all, and to Captian Charles Warren and the nominated Players’ Players: Zack Wimbush and Ben Pitts.

The squad were: Thomas Birchell, George Collins, Tyler Knight, Luke Maxa, Jasper Oursin, Ben Pitts, Luca Tsai, Charles Warren, Zack Wimbush, Jack Zha
