The Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge 2015

Posted: 25th March 2015

This term has seen some brilliant Chess being played by 24 pupils in Year 2 all the way up to Year 8 as they compete in The Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge 2015. Pupils have all played in seven rounds over the Lent Term against one another. Some great scores have meant fluffy mascots and ‘100 Killer Moves’ booklets have been awarded.  The tournament culminated  in an exciting game between Joe Rizk and Josh Lancashire, both in Year 6, with the shield finally being won by Joe. Several pupils have qualified for the Megafinal at Churston Ferrers Grammar School in Brixham on 11th June. The pupils gave up their playtimes to take part and many of them helped those who are new to the game.
