Visit to St Austell Brewery

Posted: 6th July 2018

Fourteen Business Studies pupils and two teachers visited St Austell Brewery on Tuesday 4 July. The group was given a tour by the Brewing Director, Roger Ryman, during which they learnt about the brewing process.  This was followed by a presentation from the Marketing and Communications Director, Jeremy Mitchell, and Chief Executive, James Staughton, who is the great-great-grandson of the founder, Walter Hicks.

In addition to learning about the production process, pupils learnt about the growth of the business, including the recent acquisition of Bath Ales, as well as how the business markets itself through the sponsorship of local sports teams.

The trip was greatly enjoyed by all and the group was incredibly well looked after by St Austell Brewery, who even provided refreshments in the bar afterwards. Mount Kelly would like to thank everyone at St Austell Brewery for their hospitality.
