Welcome from the Head of Prep

Dominic Floyd Mount Kelly Head of PrepAt the Prep we aim to give every child the most memorable years of their life. These are the ‘Golden Years’ and we aim to inspire, ignite and nurture the children in our care and prolong their childhood. We want them to be ambitious, curious, engaged in their learning and equipped with the skills required for the future.  We aim to give them resilience, challenge and every opportunity to discover their strengths both academically and creatively.

Our curriculum is a well-considered and a carefully balanced map of different disciplines.  With academic rigour and high expectations top of the agenda, we are proud of our results and the number of reputable public schools our children move on to.  With Common Entrance and Scholarship at Year 8, our pupils are well prepared for their next step beyond the Prep.

Located on the fringe of Dartmoor in 110 acres and on the edge of Tavistock, we proudly embrace our stunning environment and grounds. Community forms an essential part of our identity. The outdoors are an important element in our teaching and we want every child to be respectful and comfortable under the stars. Our Shackleton programme (Learning Outside the Classroom) embodies a love of the outdoors.

We celebrate individuality and want our children to show character and be proud of who they are and who they are to become. Developing the whole person, spiritually, socially, physically and morally is as important as the academics. Traditional values and manners are a vital part of our education and we have a real onus on consideration for others, kindness and tolerance. Trust, respect and honesty form the bedrock of our distinctive ethos.

We welcome you to this website but would prefer to meet you face to face, where we can give you the warmest of welcomes and proudly show you our school.
