Winter Concert

Posted: 4th December 2015

The Winter Concert on Tuesday 1st December was a new event in the calendar and an opportunity for our young musicians to show what they have been working on in the Michaelmas Term. The String Orchestra opened the programme with a selection of themes from Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev, followed by a group of performances from some of our most talented soloists.  Marcus Coleridge (trumpet) played Chanson Neopolitain by Tchaikovsky, Carys Twyman (Flute) gave us a movement from Trois Morceaux by Goddard, Indira Falle played the theme from the movie Amelie on the piano and Matthew Twyman completed this group with performance of the famous Canon by Pachelbel. The Concert Band played King Across the Water by Fraser featuring a captivating solo from Ella Sorensen on clarinet. The evening concluded with the 60-strong College Choir singing Torches by John Joubert and finally a delightfully schmaltzy arrangement of White Christmas to send the audience on its way!
