Learning Outside the Classroom

Posted: 25th September 2015

Last weekend the Year 7 pupils were put through their paces at the Adventure Centre.  The focus for the trip was a Challenge Weekend in order to bond the children at the beginning of the year.  They faced many challenges which were designed to highlight each others’ strengths and weaknesses so that they could learn to support one another effectively.  Each group received ‘Wiggans’ for completing tasks and showing particularly good teamwork.  Some of the challenges included a River and Tunnels Challenge, Rock Climbing and Abseiling, Moorland Navigation whilst completing challenges and tasks along the way (including a swim across Crazy Well Pool in just a bathing suit and buoyancy aid!) before camping at Nunn’s Cross Farm on the second night.  The trip culminated in a ‘Grand Finale Challenge’ to determine the overall winning team.  As cheesy as it may sound, however, they were indeed all winners! All of the teams made great progress and it will be an experience they will remember for a long time to come.
