Posted: 26th November 2018

Congratulations to Mount Kelly pupil, Matilda Purnell, who took Gold at the 2018 National Biathlon Championships in Leeds at the weekend and is now the U11 Girls National Champion.  Matilda performed incredibly well in the competition, taking over two seconds off of her Personal Best in the freestyle long course swimming and over six seconds off in her 800 metre run.

In the U9 Girls event, Olivia Purnell and Caoimhe Dolby did very well in their first ever national championship, finishing 15th and 16th respectively on joint points, despite being ranked around 60th nationally from their regional heats.

Year 9 pupil, Annabelle Hess also finished 15th in her event, swimming the 100m with a Personal Best. Her sister Ellena ranked 32nd in the U10 Girls event, overcoming some challenging conditions along the way.

Edward Sorensen qualified for the U12 Boys Biathlon and performed well, finishing in 30th position.
