Tavistock Christmas Tree Festival

Posted: 30th November 2018

Mount Kelly pupils, Ava, Charlotte R and Charlotte S performed beautifully to guests at the preview night of the annual Christmas Tree Festival in St Eustachius' Church on Thursday 29 November. The invitation-only event was attended by sponsors and their families.

The festival is open from Friday 30 November to Sunday 9 December from 10am to 4.30pm, with musical events throughout the day and refreshments available. Our pupils have decorated two trees which are on display in the church.  The Prep's tree features charming handmade Russian dolls and wooden stars made by pupils in the Pre-Prep and Prep, following a simple red and green theme.

College pupils echoed the illustrative history of Charles Dickens' novella, A Christmas Carol, by creating their own 2D and 3D responses to the narrative and drawing on inspiration from illustrators such as John Leech, Arthur Rackham and Quentin Blake. The combination of delicate origami and hand drawn imagery works to reflect the Christmas Carol story in range of creative forms.
