SW Short Course Winter Championships

Posted: 8th November 2021

The weekend saw the return of the South West Short Course Winter Championships at Millfield School, thanks to the hard work of clubs across the region, Greg King-Limb, and a dedicated army of volunteers.

For many of our swimmers who have joined the programme in the last 18 months, this was the first competition outside of our own pool or Plymouth. This meet is always a great stepping stone for our performance squads in the build up to winter nationals and this year proved to be no exception. The inclusion of A and B finals is a great opportunity for our swimmers to practise the process of progressing through the rounds.

Mount Kelly took the biggest team to Millfield, with 96 athletes competing across the weekend and they made their presence felt with incredible, unmatched team support. The competition proved to be a huge success as we took 11 Senior titles, 20 Junior titles and 75 podium finishes across the two categories. With just four weeks to go until winter nationals, this meet has provided excellent racing practice for our swimmers and we have come away with more national qualifying times added.
