Half Term Swimming Report

The South West Winter Championships was again a great success for Mount Kelly, with our swimmers winning 20 Gold medals, 18 Silver and 20 Bronze and competing in every final session.

Congratulations to Matthew who broke the 17 years Scottish Record in the 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke events.

Our regional winners were:

  • Hubert – 1500m Freestyle
  • Leah – 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke
  • Riccardo – 100m and 200m Butterfly
  • Matthew – 50m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke
  • Vadim – 200m Breaststroke
  • Sophie – 200m Breaststroke
  • Blythe – 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke and 100m Ind. Medley
  • Abdul – 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, and 100m Ind. Medley
  • Brydan – 100m Backstroke and 200m Backstroke
  • Other medalists: Ruby, Erin, Donatas, Harry, Oliver, Sam, Ella, Arun, Ella, Alex, Marcus, Nicole, Barney, Ben, Sophie, Gabi and Jacky.

At the beginning of the half term break, a small team of swimmers also travelled to Jersey to compete in the Calligo Tigers 41st Open Meet. Particular congratulations to Hermance and Kelly for winning awards for best in age group.

Erin, Brydan and Jad competed at the FINA World Cup in Berlin. Erin represented Great Britain whilst Brydan raced for Ireland and Jad for Lebanon.

We now look forward to Arena League this weekend followed by the ESSA National Relays in London next weekend.
