1st VII at the Devon Cup

Posted: 4th February 2015

The Mount Kelly 1st VII enjoyed a successful day at the U18 Devon Cup.

After losing a tight opener 7-17 against Plymouth College, impressive performances playing some good Sevens saw Devonport High defeated 33-0 and South Devon College beaten 35-0. We therefore qualified for the Cup Semi Final against Blundell's.

The Mount Kelly boys gave their all and fought well but ultimately came up short 7-28 against very good opposition, although we were the first team of the day to keep them under 50 points and also the first to score points against them.

Impressive performances throughout the day came from Taylor Ryan, Ollie Wood and the outstanding Jordan Shakespeare.

This was our best performance for some years in this competition, which suggests we are heading in the right direction as we prepare for the Kelly Tens and the Rosslyn Park National Sevens.
