Artists inspired in London

Posted: 30th January 2017

GCSE and A Level Art and Photography pupils enjoyed a fantastic trip to London soaking up the sights and sounds of the busy capital whilst walking from gallery to gallery. We had a busy but inspiring day visiting the Tate Britain, The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery and The Tate Modern. We were overwhelmed by the huge extension to the Tate Modern; however, with each new room comes an intriguing new experience!

Pupils were challenged to question the art and photography they saw, considering how they could use it to spark fresh ideas for the examination projects. The Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize captured the pupils gaze as they spent time reading the context behind each set of eyes. This became an invaluable experience for all pupils involved and no doubt the artwork we experienced will flow through into the paintings, sculpture and lens based media pupils create in class.
