British Science Week

Posted: 9th March 2018

Pupils in the Pre-Prep have enjoyed a fascinating week of science.

Nursery pupils visited Mr Thavenot in the Science Block to watch some exciting chemical reactions, whilst Reception class made slime and moon sand and carried out static electricity, magnet and volcano experiments.

Year 1 pupils have conducted five different experiments: how colour dye can be soaked into flower petals; how to create the strongest bridge out of straws; how to create a campfire that can make toast; how to make a volcano with vinegar and baking soda; and the fantastic challenge of creating static energy with a balloon.

Meanwhile, Year 2 visited We The Curious science museum in Bristol on Monday where they spent the day exploring a variety of hands on experiments. Pupils enjoyed an amazing 3D experience in the planetarium followed by a workshop examining the habitats of mountainous regions, the savannah, a tropical beach, a tropical forest and a desert.
