Celebrating Pupils’ Successes

Posted: 1st April 2017

Hockey:
Well done to Alice Lamb and Emlyn Oxenham who have been training with the U15s at the England Hockey high performance centre in Taunton. The following pupils have made it through to the County tournaments this year representing Devon for their respective age groups:

Will Hutton – U14 Boys
Maddie Jones – U14 Girls
Jacob Staig – U16 Boys
Ollie Allsop – U16 Boys
Chris Tanner – U16 Boys

Sports Colours:
Ben Grove has become one of very few Mount Kelleians to have gained Full Colours in all three major field sports (Cricket, Rugby & Hockey). He has been the relevant 1st team’s top run scorer, try scorer and goal scorer in those 3 sports in the last 12 months – although, in the latter two particularly, he would give much credit to his team mates for laying on the opportunities for him. Ben played junior rugby at Tavistock and currently plays senior cricket and hockey at Yelverton and Devonport Services.

Music:
Alex Smith (Year 7) plays the trumpet with the Under 13 National Children's Orchestra. He was recently invited to attend a brass Master Class with Alison  Balsom at the Royal Albert Hall.  Alex was really pleased to be selected and had an inspirational experience with one of the best trumpet soloists of her generation.

Autographs:
Toby Berryman (Year 8) has amassed a fantastic collection of autographs from personalities ranging from politicians to pop stars, and has catalogued these on his website database. Toby recently contacted Tony Blair, sending him photographs of himself campaigning during the Mount Kelly referendum. He was delighted to receive a reply from Tony Blair, with a signed copy of his autobiography, A Journey, with the following message: "To Toby, maybe you will be P.M. one day".
