Election Hustings

Posted: 1st May 2015

Hours before the last of the live television election debates in which David Cameron, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg were grilled by a Question Time audience, Mount Kelly was hosting its own election hustings. Five pupils from the Sixth Form stepped forward to represent the five main political parties during an intense hour of debate in their general studies lesson on Thursday 30th April.

Harry Dunlop represented the Green Party, Billy Allen the Labour Party, Theo brown the Liberal Democrats, Lauren Dawe the Conservative party and Henry Searle represented UKIP. All five candidates spoke convincingly, putting forward the main points from their party’s manifestos and then responded well to questions from the audience. The debate was chaired by Mr Martin who ably controlled the discussion and kept the questions coming from the audience. Next week pupils will have an opportunity to vote for their candidate of choice in our very own Mount Kelly election on national voting day, 7th May.
