EXCELLENT RESULTS FOR MOUNT KELLY

Posted: 17th August 2017

Mount Kelly pupils have once again excelled in their A Level and BTEC examinations. 35% of all grades were A/A*, or the equivalent, and the A*-B rate was 53%.

The overwhelming majority of pupils have secured places at their universities of choice, including UCL, King’s, Bristol, Exeter and other Russell Group universities, while a number of pupils have been accepted at prestigious American universities. Particular congratulations go to Anna Cox and Lulu Kharas, who secured a clean sweep of A*s and As.

Head Master, Mark Semmence, commented, “Considering the challenges posed by the reformed A levels this year, I am delighted that so many of our pupils have gained the grades for which they were hoping, and they leave us well prepared for their exciting journeys ahead.  These are the same pupils who have been to St James's Palace to collect their gold DofE awards, paddled the gruelling Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race, swum for their country, completed the 55mile Ten Tors challenge, and secured Grade 8 music certificates. I am proud of their achievements both in and out of the classroom and I am grateful to all the staff for the unstinting support they have offered.

This has been such an exciting year for Mount Kelly. Following a dramatic increase in boarding numbers we have refurbished three of our four boarding houses, and are opening a new day house this September. We are also resurfacing our current all-weather pitch and constructing a new pitch adjacent to it, and have now been granted planning permission for a bridge over the River Tavy."
