Mount Kelly Prep Radio

Posted: 21st October 2016

The Mount Kelly Prep Radio Club on Thursdays provides pupils in Years 6-8 with the opportunity to learn the many aspects of radio broadcasting and they are all currently working on producing their own radio programmes.

Toby Berryman in Year 8 has greatly taken to broadcasting and has now produced several programmes in which he interviews accomplished people from various professions. The show is called 20 Questions, in which Toby poses ten questions relating to the person's profession followed by another ten general 'set' questions such as favourite music, art and literature.

The interviews are mainly via Skype and so far Toby has interviewed:

  • Fiona Lloyd (journalist and former South African radio presenter)
  • Dr Bendor Grosvenor (renowned Art Historian, resident researcher on 'Fake or Fortune', and presenter on BBC2's 'Britain's Lost Masterpieces')
  • Tom Howe (composer of the theme tune for The Great British Bake Off, The Legend of Tarzan, and Four Rooms)
  • Phil De Glanville (Old Mount Kelleian, former England Rugby Union Captain)

Archie Burton in Year 8 has also recently scooped an interview with explorer, Pen Hadow, the first person to have walked solo and unaided to the North Pole. Pen shares with us his extraordinary story, gives us a world exclusive on his forthcoming expedition and plans, and gives advice to Mount Kelly pupils on becoming adventurers and achieving their goals.
