Mount Kelly Swimming Success

Mount Kelly swimmers have continued to excel, producing superb performances at national championships in the UK and in Europe. The squad has achieved an unprecedented level of success, winning medals and breaking records across the board, and were convincing winners at the Arena National League final in December, resulting in promotion to the Premier Division next year.  Recent highlights include:

10 medal winners at the English National Championships:

Gold – Womens  4x100m Medley Relay Team in the Senior Open Championship (Athena Clayson, Niamh Robinson, Kaylee Dekker, Georgina Dennis)
Gold – Georgina Dennis in the Junior 100m & 200m Freestyle
Silver – Kaylee Dekker in the Junior 100m Fly & 100m Freestyle
Silver – Mens 4x100m  Freestyle Relay in the Senior Open Championship (Sam Dailley, Harry Noble, Alessandro Burdisso, Federico Burdisso)
Silver – Mens 4x200m Freestyle Relay in the Senior Open Championship (Sam Dailley, Ben Harrison, Harry Noble, Federico Burdisso)
Silver – Womens 4x100m Freestyle Relay in the Senior Open Championships (Emily Haimes, Athena Clayson, Kaylee Dekker, Georgina Dennis)
Bronze – Federico Burdisso in the Senior Open 100m & 200m Fly
Federico Burdisso broke the 34 year-old MK record of Olympian Andrew Jameson in the 100m Fly, as well as the magic 50 second barrier in the 100m Freestyle. He is the first Mount Kelly swimmer ever to achieve this. 

Niamh Robinson has qualified for the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April.

3 medals at the Welsh National Championships:

Silver-  Harry Turner, 50m Backstroke
Silver – Martyna Ruszkowska, 50m Freestyle
Bronze – Martyna Ruszkowska, 50m Fly
1 medal at the Dutch National Championships:

Bronze – Sam Van Der Stroom in the Junior 400m Individual Medley
14 medals at the National Para-Swimming Championships:

William Perry – Gold in the 50m and 100m Freestyle, as well as the 50m Fly and 100m Breaststroke
Lily MacLeod – Gold in the 50m,100m and 400m Freestyle, and Silver in the 400m IM
Benjamin Grainger – Gold in the 100m Breaststroke and Silver in the 100m Backstroke and 200m IM
Alexander Hobbs – Gold in the 400m Freestyle, Silver in the 50m and 100m Freestyle and the 100m Backstroke.  Alexander has been selected on to the Junior England Talent Para-Swimming Programme.

8 medals at the Plymouth Open Christmas Meet:

Ysabella Baird – 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze
Amelia Riggott – 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze
