National Poetry Day

Posted: 7th October 2016

National Poetry Day was celebrated at the Prep by working on the theme of Messages.  Children listened to and read a variety of poems chosen by their teachers (not just the English teachers!) and then worked on their own Message poems which were then rolled up into bottles and sent into the wide unknown …. via the Prep hall first! Poems chosen by staff ranged from The Gunpowder Plot (by Vernon Scannell – Mr Floyd); If Dinosaurs were Alive (by Andrew Collett – Mrs Leslie ); If (by Rudyard Kipling – Mrs Buckley); to The Lake Isle of Innisfree (Yeats – Mrs Butcher) and High Flight (by John McGee – Mr Johnson).  They also enjoyed poems in Latin, Spanish and French! At the College, staff also shared their favourite poems with pupils.
