National Poetry Day

Posted: 29th September 2017

Mount Kelly embraced National Poetry Day yesterday with a range of activities across the School.  The theme this year was 'Freedom', and pupils were given the opportunity to consider what freedom means to them, and to write a poem on the subject. Many of their poems were written on rocks and displayed along the windows of Main Corridor at the College, whilst at the Prep, pupils collected rocks from the river and displayed their poems around the sundial, before returning them to the river next week.

Teachers were also asked for their favourite poem to be displayed around the school or read aloud to pupils during class. Year 10 and 11 pupils enjoyed a visit from Steve Martin, a former geography teacher at Mount Kelly, who gave a talk on the Cornish poet, Charles Causley.
