Philip Reeve formally opens Prep Library

Posted: 25th April 2017

On Monday 24th April, Prep pupils and staff were delighted to welcome Philip Reeve to formally cut the ribbon and open the newly refurbished library.

A dedicated team of parents and staff have worked tirelessly over a number of months scanning, cataloguing and barcoding books with the new Accelerated Reader system through Renaissance Learning.  New sets of contemporary and classic fiction have been added, four new computers installed as well as a new projector and screen, 14 new iPads and Junior Librarian, a registration scanning system. With over books 3,700 books, we are confident there is a book for everyone to enjoy and they will be highly motivated through the target setting/book quiz culture!

As well as declaring this great new facility officially open, the celebrated children’s author (Mortal Engines, Predator’s Gold, Goblins and illustrator of many of the Horrible Histories series as well as many more), Philip kindly spoke to the pupils in Assembly about his experiences as an author/illustrator and encouraged them all to enjoy reading and write their own stories.  His most recent book, ‘Railhead’, has been shortlisted for the prestigious CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Children’s Book Award.

It is our aim to instil in every one of our Prep children a love of reading and the fantastic Library will certainly inspire our pupils towards a love of literature.
