The Magic of Burns Night

Posted: 30th January 2015

The Prep saw Year 2 pupils send home hand written invitations to friends and family to join them for a Burns Night Supper on Friday 23rd January in the dining hall. We were delighted with the number of guests\attending. The group enjoyed showing off their Gay Gordons and had to help several parents join in the dance by becoming dance teachers themselves. The children had designed and made their own kilts which made a glorious display for the parents. The children also recited some Burns Poetry; My Love is Like a Red Red Rose and The Selkirk Grace (with translation). We were incredibly lucky to have Mr Dickson give the Address to the Haggis in traditional dress. A fantastic rendition!  Although there were murmurs that a translation of this poem would also have been welcomed.

The children were incredibly busy chefs and prepared cock-a-leekie soup followed by haggis neeps and tatties for around 70 people.
We were very grateful for all of their hard work and we hope everybody enjoyed the event.
