Our Year 6 pupils have had a fantastic, fun filled few days at the Mount Kelly Adventure Centre on their residential trip this week. The three days were busy ones, packed full with exciting and challenging activities including tree climbing, archery, high ropes, abseiling, a trapeze swing and a mini Olympics competition to name but a few.
They visited Dewerstone for a Gorge walk through the River Plym and a scramble up the Tor, as well as spending an afternoon at Alder Lake for some kayaking and raft building. They were extremely lucky with the weather, hardly having any rain despite the forecast.
An experience many of them will not forget was their one night stay Nun's Cross Farm. The farm is in a very remote setting on the moor a few miles from Princetown, with no road access, running water, electricity, or toilet facilities! The children arrived at the Farm as it was getting dark, just in time to sit round the log fire and have a cup of hot chocolate before bedtime.
The children did themselves proud over this past week and were brilliant at supporting each other through what many of them found were new and challenging tasks. For many of the Year 6 pupils it was their first trip away without their family and they all did extremely well, organising themselves and taking more responsibility. Many thanks to Mrs Edwards and Mr Weaver who accompanied the pupils on the trip and to all the instructors at the Mount Kelly Adventure Centre for making it such an enjoyable and successful week for everyone.
