Year 6 Geography Field Trip

Posted: 4th November 2015

46 intrepid explorers ventured out with Mrs Buckett and Mr Lamb on Tuesday 3rd November for their Geography rivers fieldwork. Two Dartmoor National Park wardens led the Mount Kelly pupils across the Moor following the source of the River Meavy from Princetown to Burrator Reservoir.

Field sketches, river velocity tests, meander studies and river cross section profiles were completed by the students. As the mist lowered, they took refuge in a plantation by the reservoir for lunch before carrying on along the leat. Everyone had a great day and Year 6 were still full of energy when they arrived back at school….luckily for them in time for hockey and rugby sessions!
