Year 12 A Level Business pupils at Mount Kelly tackling the complexities of modern recruitment.
As part of their A Level studies into Human Resource Management, pupils have been conducting mock interviews, alternating between the roles of the candidate and employer. This practical task allows pupils to understand the vital importance of person specifications and job descriptions in finding the “right fit” for a business.
In a move to mirror the evolving global job market, the cohort is also producing a video CV. By filming these digital introductions, pupils are applying marketing theories to themselves. They are learning to manage their “personal brand,” ensuring they stand out in an increasingly competitive landscape.
”In the Edexcel syllabus, we study how businesses use recruitment to gain a competitive advantage,” said Mr Prettejohn, A Level Business Studies Lead. “By creating video CVs, our pupils aren’t just learning the theory; they are mastering the communication tools they will actually use when applying for university or their first graduate roles.”
This initiative ensures that Mount Kelly’s Business pupils leave the classroom not just with a grade, but with the confidence to market their talents to the world.
