Mount Kelly is a busy, bustling place. Academic lessons and a range of clubs and societies take place Monday to Friday, with the focus at the weekends being on sports fixtures, activities, and outings for boarders on Sundays.

The school day commences with meetings and registration in Houses at 08:15, followed by lessons or Chapel.  Chapel is held on Monday and Friday mornings.

Each lesson is 55 minutes long with a five minute transition period between them. Pupils have a break in the morning, and a lunch break from 12:45-14:00 which includes time for clubs, meetings and optional activities. Academic Clinics commence at 13:25. Lessons end at 16:00-16:30 following which there are timetabled sessions for Games, extra-curricular Drama and Music and CCF. The school day finishes at 17:40.

Saturday is the main day for sports fixtures and pupils are expected to be available to represent the school if they are selected. For those not in a team, a wide variety of activities are on offer and all boarders are expected to participate in the activity of their choice.

On Sundays, boarders are able to relax and enjoy some free time or join trips which are organised throughout the term such as swimming, walks on Dartmoor and mountain biking.
