Young Innovator of the Year Award 2015

Posted: 17th June 2015

Five year 7 pupils from the College Robotics Club, ‘Robotix 4 Girls’ (Imogen Allsop, Katy Miles, Jessica Clinton, Elinor Stanyer and Caitlin Marsh) have been shortlisted for an award for their design of a robot to comfort and cure patients infected with the Ebola virus.

The robot is designed to disinfect itself automatically and so it cannot pass on the disease nor be infected with it of course. But the robot is able to carry out some nursing functions such as monitoring the temperature of the patient and administer drugs correctly, but also provide the patient with the ability to make contact with friends, family and loved ones via its on-board screen controlled by simple voice commands.

This and other innovative ideas have led the panel of judges at the Harper Adams University to call our students to receive an award later this month for their inspiring design work.
