At Mount Kelly we are committed to the provision of innovative and flexible ways to help pupils make informed choices about their futures, develop the skills required to enhance their employability and contribute positively to the world in which they live.
To supplement our formal A level or BTEC courses we believe that it is important to teach some additional ‘life skills’ and to introduce our pupils to the wider world that they will shortly be experiencing. The ‘Beyond the Curriculum’ programme aims to do just this.
The EPQ is a level 3 based qualification which allows pupils to develop research skills and exercise extended writing skills. The extra UCAS points it attracts can make a difference to the success of university applications and will give pupils something to discuss in detail on their Personal Statement and during their interview.
It is well documented that both employers and universities are generally disappointed with the oral communication skills of the younger generations and we feel that by gaining these internationally renowned and Ofqual recognised exams our pupils are well equipped to use their voices appropriately.
