Pen Hadow – To the North Pole

Posted: 11th February 2015

Mount Kelly were treated to a fascinating Oracle lecture this week as polar explorer Pen Hadow shared the secrets of his success as he succeeded as the first man to trek solo and unsupported to the North Pole.
Pen outlined his meticulous planning for the excursion including his 10 minute survival window (to avoid frostbite or worse!) and used a variety of unconventional props to make his points come alive!

He later took questions from the floor including one relating to any sightings of Father Christmas en route to the North Pole.

The School are incredibly grateful to Pen for sharing this no holds barred tale of courage and grit – and providing true inspiration to all would be explorers – and those facing challenges of all kinds.
