Swimming Success

Posted: 23rd February 2017

Some of our swimmers at the Prep have much to celebrate this week!

National Deaf Swimming have just updated their records and we are delighted to report that Alice Kinsey has achieved an impressive 13 National GB Deaf Swimming age group records for the short course (25m pool).  For the age 11 and under category, these include: 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, 50m and 200m butterfly, 100m and 200m Individual medley.

Alex Hobbs recently received the Junior Disability Achievement  Award for City of Plymouth ASA and the award was presented to him by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth (pictured).

Congratulations also to sisters Louise and Fiona Murphy who have been selected for the 2017 Devon County England Programmes Training Days.

In addition, Mount Kelly coach, Greg King, has been invited to be Head Coach on these England Programmes Training Days. This will involve managing the coaching content for the selected swimmers as well as facilitating coach development within the county. Josh Norrie, who also coaches at Mount Kelly, will assume the position of County Skills Coach and take a lead role in the strength and conditioning sessions. This will be a great opportunity for the Mount Kelly Swim School to share its coaching practice with the wider swimming community, and to further build on working together with other high performing clubs within the county.
