Mount Kelly Trophy & Athletics Round Up

During this past week, athletes from the College and Prep have been involved in a true festival of athletics, competing against Independent and State schools in four separate events (as well as our own Prep Sports Day)!

Mount Kelly Trophy, Sunday 18 June:
Mount Kelly hosts this annual event every June, and this year seven schools took part, representing the best athletes from across Devon & Cornwall. Well done to all, and to Mount Kelly who finished 1st in the U14 Girls and U14 Boys categories, and also winning the Relay trophies in the same age groups.

During the event, nine event records were broken, some which have stood for many years. As a result of performances across these events, the following 16 Mount Kelly pupils have been selected to represent team Drake at the Nationals on Tuesday 4th July in Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium:
Noah Bridle, Amelia Riggott, Jed Hutchings, Bethan Rees, Tom Cockcroft, Jamie Bulbring, Fritz Dietz, Sophie Main, James Lamb, Olivia Lee, Sandor Apponyi, Euan Botham, Joe Wheeldon, Pip Briggs, Thomas Birchell and Ben Pitts.

South West Athletics, Saturday 17 June:
We had five pupils at the South West Schools Athletics Championships: Jamie Bulbring – 100m, Sophie Main – 1500m (4th), Emily Lumley – Shot Putt (9th), Oliver Smart – 1500m 3rd. Oliver has gained National Entry Standard and has now been selected for the Devon team competing  at the English Schools Championships in Birmingham on 7th July.

U20 English Championships, Saturday 17 June:
Jade Kinsey – 400m 15th. Jade has been selected to represent Devon in the 400m at the English Schools Championships in Birmingham on 7th July.

 

Year 7 Plymouth Athletics Championships, Tuesday 20 June:
Involving 12 schools from across Plymouth, Mount Kelly finished in 3rd place. Individual event winners were:  Tom Cockcroft, Amelia Riggott, Christopher Wrey, Fritz Dietz.
