Having been rained off a week earlier, Prep Sports Day was postponed and held on Monday 19th June, one of the hottest days of the year! Hundreds of children competed in an afternoon of traditional athletics events including races, high and long jump, javelin, discus, hurdles and relays. Parents cheered on whilst enjoying their picnic in the shade, and the overall atmosphere of the day was a very happy one indeed.
There were some superb results this year, with an incredible five school records being broken and Hepworth House came out as the overall winner, and the proud recipient of the Holmes Cup. What was heart-warming to witness was the sense of team-spirit and camaraderie amongst the pupils and the determination and resilience of those who competed, regardless of athletic ability.
