A Level Art Etching Workshop

Posted: 14th November 2019

Ten A Level Art pupils attended a two-day etching course this week with Artist and Printmaker, Mary Gillett, at her studio near Brentor.

Pupils learnt how to print tonal and mark making images by using techniques such as Aquatint and Dry point etching. The process, including zinc plate preparation and health and safety awareness, is reliant on a series of stages which include the use of chemicals, fire and lots of ink.

Everyone came away with several successful etchings which will contribute to their A Level coursework portfolios.
