Mount Kelly Pen Pal Scheme

Posted: 20th November 2020

Mount Kelly pupils have been working hard on their Duke of Edinburgh Awards this term, and with over 150 pupils involved in the scheme there is a lot of great activity taking place.

Volunteering in the current circumstances, however, is proving more challenging as lots of opportunities normally on offer are not currently possible. In order to overcome these challenges, and to ensure the wellbeing of our extended Mount Kelly family in these difficult times, 21 pupils from Years 9-13 have set up a pen pal scheme with local residents and OMKs. They communicate once a week via email or letter providing some much needed social interaction during lockdown.

It has been wonderful to hear about the lives they have enjoyed since leaving school, offering great inspiration to our current pupils to work hard and aspire to whatever they want to be.
