Excellence in LAMDA

Posted: 5th February 2021

Last term, 114 LAMDA exams were taken by pupils from Years 3 to 13.

76 pupils gained a Distinction and 37 a Merit, in disciplines covering Speaking in Public, Speaking Verse & Prose, Reading for Performance, Acting and Mime.

Congratulations to all pupils involved, and a special mention to Tiggy in Year 4 who was awarded 100% for her Speaking in Public Entry exam and to Year 13 pupil, Ella, for gaining her sixth Grade 8 exam, passing four with Distinction and two with Merit. Back in Year 7, Ella promised Mrs McCarty that she would reach Grade 8 in all the exams and she has done it!

Virtual LAMDA lessons continue for 90 pupils online during lockdown. For fun – and to keep up with their skills – pupils are also participating in chair mime; exercises and scenes performed without leaving their chair whilst making the top part of their bodies look like they are moving completely. The popular virtual hugs have also been reintroduced from last lockdown!
