International swimming success

Last week saw Mount Kelly’s international swimming success continue to grow.

  • Ethan claimed Gold in the Men’s 200m Individual medley, with a 2 second personal best and a new MK record of 2:04.97 at the Irish National Team Trials held in Dublin. Ethan also achieved a 3 second PB in the 200m Butterfly, setting a time of 2:02.04 in the semi-finals.
  • At the Turkish Long Course Trials, Hazal and Mya’s swimming successes continued to rack up! Hazal stormed the 200m Breaststroke in a new PB and Open MK Record in a time of 2:32.15. She also took the 200m Individual Medley Gold in a 4 second PB and new Age Group MK Record of 2:18.42, narrowly missing Sharon Davies’ Open MK Record of 2:17.31. Mya broke the 18-year-old Age Group MK Record in the 400m Freestyle in a lifetime best of 4:28.53 followed by a strong 200 Individual medley swim. She also finished 8th in the final with another PB in the Women’s 100m Freestyle.
  • Sam produced some very strong swims in Dubai, including a 100 Breaststroke PB of 1:04:75, and in Eindhoven, Sam placed PBs in all the events he raced, with the pinnacle being his first senior final in the 200 Breaststroke in the Dutch Olympic trials. An incredible achievement that has now opened doors for Sam in his next step into senior level swimming.
  • Year 9 swimmer, Thomas, participated in the Brunei Age Group Championships, achieving three medals (2 Golds in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay and 4x100m Individual Medley relay and an individual Silver in the men’s 50m Butterfly).
