Preparing for the Exmoor Challenge

Posted: 11th May 2021

This year’s teams of Year 8 pupils selected to take part in the Rotary Exmoor Youth Challenge undertook their first day of training on Sunday 9 May, brushing up on their map reading skills and clocking up more than nine miles around Peter Tavy and Dartmoor.

The Challenge has become a very popular event over the last few years with over 100 teams of young people completing an unmarked 16 mile route in a pre-determined time, using instructions, map-reading and compass skills. Mount Kelly’s teams will undertake two more practice walks before the event at the end of June.
