Wider World Lecture

Posted: 18th June 2021

Mount Kelly was very pleased to welcome Professor Paul Armstrong-Taylor as the first Wider World Lecturer after a long period of COVID-enforced absence. Dr Armstrong-Taylor was a scholar at Kelly College (1986-1993) and is currently Resident Professor of International Economics at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

Pupils investigated the importance of cooperation for society to function using game theory and the Prisoners’ Dilemma Experiment as well as receiving a brief overview of previous research exploring the probability of politicians embroiled in scandal telling the truth.

The Q&A session included thoughtful questions from the lecture as well as broader questions covering university after Mount Kelly and careers in academia.

Many thanks to Professor Armstrong-Taylor for such an engaging lecture.
