The Shackleton programme at Mount Kelly Prep is designed to challenge pupils both physically and mentally, nurturing an adventurous spirit and instilling a sense of resilience, teamwork, and self-confidence.

On Friday 8 March, Year 6 pupils enjoyed an action-packed outdoor activity day organised by Dynamic Adventures. They donned overalls, welly boots and head torches to explore the mystical and muddy underworld of Pridhamsleigh Cavern for a wonderful caving experience. A hot chocolate prepared over a Trangia stove was followed by climbing at Leigh Tor, with the children climbing, abseiling and belaying for each other. Pupils worked together as a team, supporting each other through their fears when it became mentally and physically tough.

Amidst the picturesque landscapes of Dartington, Year 5 pupils embarked on an exhilarating outdoor education experience on Monday 12 March which included rock climbing, archery, abseiling and zip-lining, under the guidance of experienced instructors from Dynamic Adventures.

Pupils conquered challenging rock-climbing routes with grit and determination, and cheers of triumph echoed through the valley as each pupil reached the summit. Abseiling provided a thrilling descent as pupils bravely rappelled down sheer cliffs. With each descent, they conquered their fears, gaining confidence and self-assurance along the way.

Archery sessions honed their focus and precision, as they took aim with bows in hand, aiming for the bullseye with unwavering determination. To finish off the day, the zip line provided the ultimate adrenaline rush, as pupils soared through the air, laughter filling the forest canopy below. It was a moment of pure exhilaration, a highlight of their outdoor adventure at Dartington.
