Pupils from Years 11 and 12 attended the National Apprenticeship Show in Exeter this week, where they were able to speak to local and national employers about the various apprenticeship schemes they run and speak to new apprentices. Pupils commented that, ‘I found the apprenticeship show helpful because I have plans of going into the forces or into engineering and the wide range of companies there helped me to see what they all offer. Before this visit I might not have even considered them.’ and, ‘I found the show helpful as there were a lot of stands and different careers that I had never thought about before, I got given a lot of information that was useful‘.

Year 11 and 12 pupils also attended an informative presentation by The University Guys on Wednesday afternoon to introduce them to the world of global university applications. Sheena Mehta, one of the Directors of The University Guys, provided expert advice and encouraged pupils to really think about what is important to them and to find where they will ‘fit’ when planning their futures.

As part of the Recruitment, Selection and Training unit, Year 12 Business Studies pupils have been conducting face-to-face interviews as well as problem solving activities and psychometric testing methods in their lessons. They have also been tasked with writing their CV to understand the process from the perspective of an applicant and encouraged to look for employment opportunities in order to further understand the exciting opportunities and world of recruitment.
