On Friday 6th at 5.30am we set off by coach and arrived in London by 10.30am
Our first stop The Tate Britain to see work by such artists as Francis Bacon, David Hockney, J.M.W.Turner, William Blake and Antony Gormley
A short walk to Trafalgar Square taking in the sites of Parliament, Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade and John Mill's monument to the Women of WW2
The National Gallery of?fered pupils the chance to see the likes of Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet and lesser known artists like Peder Balke.
The Portrait Gallery was again this years venue for the Taylor Wessing photographic portrait prize and all of our students had entrance tickets to see the entries. Grayson Perry's 'Who do you think you are?' exhibit was also accessible during out time here alongside a plethora of other famous portrait artists like Maggi Hambling, John Singer Sargent, Joshua Reynolds and Catherine Goodman. On to The Tate Modern past the National theatre and the Southbank's colourful skate park to see the work of Richard Tuttle in the Turbine Hall a large textile creation entitled 'I don't know.' The last opportunity to see other artists like Damien Hirst, Joseph Beuys, Roy Lichenstein and Louise Bourgeois before climbing back on board the coach home.
Visually exhausting but a wonderful inspirational start to examination coursework projects.
