Farewell Mr Semmence

Posted: 29th March 2019

Pupils, Staff and Governors at Mount Kelly have been saying goodbye to our 13th Head Master, Mark Semmence, and his family this week. Mr Semmence has enjoyed a busy and highly successful five years at Mount Kelly with a long list of achievements to his name, including: the merger and restructure of the two schools; boarding house refurbishments; the refurbishment of the all-weather pitch and development of the new pitch; the cricket pavilion and nets; the library refurbishments; the building of the Olympic Legacy 50m pool and the Old Mount Kelleian Bridge; the international expansion programme and the Tavistock College Partnership.

Mr Semmence recently gave a presentation to the Tavistock Chamber of Commerce and the Tavistock Rotary Club, outlining Mount Kelly's important contribution to the local economy and the School's plans for the future development of the Hazeldon site. Under his leadership, Mount Kelly has raised over £10,000 for charity in the 2017/18 academic year, our pupils have become increasingly engaged in the local community, and the importance of the School to the local economy has become ever more apparent.

The whole Mount Kelly community is united in acknowledging the extraordinary contribution that Mark Semmence has made to the success of the School, and in wishing him and his family every good fortune for the move to Repton.
