The Effects of Climate Change

Posted: 24th May 2019

Pre-Prep pupils were recently treated to an interactive presentation on Climate Change by seven of our Year 7 girls. This wonderful session was the girls' own initiative, and it was clear that a huge amount of thought had gone into how they could present such vital information to children from 4 to 7 years of age.

The girls began their presentation with a powerpoint which was both age appropriate and hard hitting. The Pre-Prep children impressed with their knowledge of the situation and answered many difficult questions. A huge bag of rubbish was then emptied on to the floor and the children sorted each item into recycle, reuse and reduce. There was, of course, a great debate about the use of plastic and the children were vehemently against single-use plastic after learning about the damage it causes. The following activity saw all of the children learning a song which clearly stated what we need to do to reduce climate change. Finally, the children were encouraged to play 'Stuck in the Mud' to reinforce the idea that if we help each other we can make a difference.
