Mount Kelly Politics Society held its first meeting of this academic year on Tuesday night, the topic being whether or not the operations of the US and its allies in Afghanistan have been a success.
The debate was lively, with members considering and critiquing a wide variety of viewpoints. Topics discussed included the extent to which an Afghan government should be based on that of the US, whether the US left Afghanistan at the wrong time, and whether the Afghan people supported America’s involvement in the country. It was great to see so many Year 12 pupils at the meeting, and their impressive level of knowledge was reflected in their insightful contributions to the discussion.
