Oxford Model UN Conference

Posted: 24th November 2021

Over the last two weekends, twelve Year 12 pupils have taken part in the virtual Oxford Model United Nations Conference.

Mount Kelly represented Malta this year, participating in several committees to tackle global issues under the theme of State-Building and Progressive Visions. The conference began with a keynote address about multilateralism in our rapidly changing world from Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University and President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. The event gave pupils a deeper understanding of how the UN works, as well as of multiple pressing political issues.

Our pupils were also part of the Access Panel discussion with Dr Hugh Munro from the Access and Outreach Team at Wadham College. Dr Munro spoke about the process of applying to study at the University of Oxford, including colleges and courses, how to find bursaries and scholarships, student finance and Oxford’s efforts in broadening access.
