Tavistock Christmas Tree Festival

Posted: 3rd December 2021

A group of talented young musicians performed to a guest audience at St Eustachius’ Parish Church last night for the annual Christmas Tree Festival Preview, delighting the audience with a varied musical programme that included:

  • Presto alla tedesca – 1st movement from Sonata in G, Op. 79 (Beethoven) and Lullaby (William Mason) performed by Anna (piano)
  • In Stiller Nacht (Brahms) and Somewhere Only We Know (Keane) performed by Emma (voice)
  • Three Pieces for Three Mallets (Michell Peter) and Tango (Jan Faulkner) performed by Andrew (xylophone)
  • Santa Lucia (Napoletana) performed by Magdalene (voice)
  • Laudamus te (from Vivaldi’s Gloria) performed by Magdalene and Lamorna (voice)

The guests were impressed by the high standard of musicianship on display and, afterwards, expressed their enormous gratitude and appreciation to the pupils.

Pupils at the Prep have created a sustainable Christmas tree for the festival. All of the decorations are made from biodegradable or recyclable materials and even include popcorn tinsel which can be fed to the birds after the festival ends!
