Year 4 pupils went into Tavistock on Wednesday 14 June to find out more about their local environment, in particular the river and canal.
The children attended a workshop at The Guildhall Heritage Centre, where they learnt about the mining history of the town as well as crime and punishment from the past. A few of our pupils even ended up in the court docks! They then walked beside the river, finding the written poetry along the waterway, and conducted a science experiment on seed dispersal, floating and sinking.
The day was rounded off with an ice-lolly and a dip in our outdoor pool – what bliss!
