DW Santa Sprint

students dressed for christmas

The Santa Sprints returned this year. The last DW training session of the term took place against the clock on the Double Locks loop in Christmas fancy dress. We had several santas – one with a reindeer – and a couple of shining stars. Times were officially recorded by the worst Christmas jumper in town, prizes were awarded, and there was much merriment and laughter.

Last Sunday, our paddlers faced the Tiverton Monster on the Tiverton Canal. Our crews paddled the entire length of the Grand Western Canal before heading back to the canal basin; a distance of 22 miles in the rain and wind.

With six crews still training, the team has settled down to the most determined paddlers, showing great resilience and humour.
